Reviews for English Tutors in Stroud

My son was very happy with the lessons and happily attended , he also gain more confidence in passing the exam with good grades I highly recommend Mr. Jones Mr Krzysciak
English Tuition in Gloucester

We first approached Anna when we were looking for advice on how to support our 10-year-old son, who has ADHD and Anxiety Disorder. From the outset, we felt comfortable with Anna. Not only did she listen to us, but she understood and empathised with what we were hoping to achieve, and she respected and acknowledged our concerns. Her manner and suggested approach were ideally aligned with our situation and struck a perfect balance in terms of pace and engagement with our son. However, none of this would have mattered if our son would not accept her. From her first interaction with him, we realised we had nothing to worry about. He instinctively trusted her and responded open to her engagement, listening to what she asked of him and reacting positively to her praise and encouragement. Over the last four months, Anna has built up a rapport with our son built on a foundation of mutual respect and trust. She has a way of helping him to do what he needs to do in a way that avoids confrontation and conflict, reinforces positive learning, and builds up his confidence. This does not mean she does not say 'no' or lets him get away with messing around. It is just that she couches that control and discipline in a way that builds trust and engagement rather than one built on hierarchy and punishment. We cannot recommend Anna highly enough. She has a wealth of experience and expertise but is humble and questioning. More than that, it is crystal clear that her primary aim is to help develop our son and help him achieve his full potential. Put simply, if you are considering additional learning support for a SEND child, you should ask for a meeting with Anna. She is simply superb at what she does, and we are so grateful we found her. My daughter G was unsure of some of her Maths concepts, but after help from Marie, she did really well in her Y6 SATS. G loved the way Marie explained everything to her so clearly and with so much patience, and she gained so much confidence. Mrs Studzinski

I really love having her tutor me. She is so kind, and funny and always helps me do my absolute best in my writing. When I do something that doesn't sound right, she doesn't tell me to do it again, instead, she gives me suggestions on how to change it to sound perfect. I think my writing skills have got ten times better, and my arsenal of tricks has increased. Riley, Aged 12

I would highly recommend Rachel as a tutor, especially given her exceptional work over the past three years with my two sons, who have special educational needs (SEN). Rachel has a remarkable ability to engage with children, adapting her teaching style to meet their individual needs effectively. Her patience and understanding have made a significant difference in their learning journey, demonstrating her dedication and skill in catering to diverse learning abilities. Rachel's approach is not only professional but also incredibly personal, ensuring that each child feels valued and supported. Her contribution to my son's education has been invaluable, and I am confident she will bring the same level of commitment and excellence to any teaching role. Irena Filipowska

Rachel was an amazing tutor for our child. She supported and built on her knowledge, resulting in passing her entrance exam with flying colours. Rachel was a pleasure to have in the house, and her communication and flexibility around sessions were always clear. My daughter's confidence increased during these sessions. Bryony

Ellie was thrilled beyond words to have been awarded a clean sweep of the highest possible grades across all her GCSEs - so 9s in all the English syllabuses and A*s in all the Welsh syllabuses. But as you can imagine, she is most proud of her 9 in English Literature and her 9 in English Language. These grades were both hard-won, & they would simply not have been possible without you. We would both like to sincerely thank you for your fabulous tutoring - at all times, you were hugely organised and explained things patiently and clearly. You demystified English for Ellie - in your sessions with her, the pace was reassuring, everything was always easy to understand, and in particular Ellie really appreciated the way you built on her ideas (rather than just providing the correct answers), and then focused her writing in a way that made it high-scoring. You gave her the formula for winning top grades, and so then her confidence grew - from thinking that English was just always going to be a blind spot for her, to instead realising that no, she could actually do well in this subject!! Thank you so much for your intervention - it has been game-changing. Mrs. Louise Meredith

We contacted Michelle after our son had not done as well as we had hoped in his 11 plus English exam and first term of Y7 exams (termly reports with grades of around B1-B2). Although our son worked hard but as being a bilingual boy from an international family, it seemed this was the best outcome he could have achieved, which also disappointed him. Since meeting with Michelle in just a few weeks, our son has grown in confidence and tells us he has learnt a lot and got a much better understanding of how to cope with learning English and demonstrating his knowledge & skills. Michelle offers her own well-prepared teaching materials, and she has a relaxed and innovative approach to tutoring, really taking time to get to know the student and gearing her teaching to their learning style. During the past few months, Michelle has pushed our son to work beyond his boundaries and comfort zone but does this in a gentle and kind way and has formed a very good relationship with him, which is helping him to learn and to be guided. Now, we have received some very positive feedback from our son's English teacher from school, and he was really happy to receive his first grade A mark for his Spring term end exam. Well done! We know we have chosen the right person to support our son in learning his English, and we would highly recommend Michelle. My son is 12 years old now and currently attends a local grammar school in Bath. Mrs. Nancy Yan

Tuition with a qualified English teacher at your home in Stroud costs from £46.00 ph. Online tuition with a qualified English teacher costs from £40.00 ph. Create your own small tuition group and English tuition costs from £17.50 ph.

Because we only ever work with qualified and experienced English teachers in Stroud, you will always get a highly experienced teacher who is safe, reliable and up to speed with the current curriculum and exam requirements. There is no excellent learning without excellent teaching, and our English teachers are expected to teach in a way that inspires and motivates. We have over 20,000 talented teachers providing tuition, chosen for their broad range of experience, professionalism, academic specialisms, passion, and dedication to their students. We only ever offer qualified teachers as tutors, as we believe professional teachers provide the highest quality of tuition.

Location
Home Tuition: Involves an English tutor coming to your home in Stroud to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. Online Tuition: This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Home Tuition: Offers the highest level of individual attention, as the English tutor focuses solely on one student. Online Tuition: Still allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the English tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Home Tuition: This tends to be more expensive because it involves one-on-one teaching, and the English tutor is required to travel to your home, in Stroud. Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your English tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Home Tuition: Offers flexibility in terms of scheduling and curriculum, as your English tutor will only be working with your child. Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of English tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Home Tuition: Offers in-person interaction, which can be beneficial for students who learn better through face-to-face communication. Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between home, online, or small group English tuition in Stroud depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.
