Religious studies is an academic field that explores religious beliefs, behaviors, and institutions from a multidisciplinary perspective, including historical, cultural, philosophical, and sociological approaches. It seeks to understand and compare the diverse expressions of religion across different societies and eras, analyzing sacred texts, rituals, and ethical systems. Unlike theology, which is faith-based and often focuses on specific religious traditions from an insider's perspective, religious studies maintains a critical, secular stance, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of religion as a human phenomenon.
