Reviews for Study Skills Tutors in Bristol

5.0

Our daughter has made tremendous progress with Mrs Markiewicz over the past year both academically and emotionally. Her deep understanding of mental health issues, ADHD and PDA have been central to this achievement. Her skill in connecting to each individual student with genuine compassion and enthusiasm shines through. Her ability to guide a student to their full potential with her gentle patience and persistence is remarkable. Mrs S Pourpart

Paul has been tutoring my daughter for just over a year, shortly after she moved to Gordano School. She was about a school year behind at Gordano as the school starts preparing students for the GCSEs in year 9 and not year 10 as in other schools. I was looking for a tutor who would help my daughter catch up and improve her confidence in the subject. â€< Before his tutoring, my daughter hated Maths and did not believe she could achieve a passing grade. Not only has he helped her catch up with the curriculum, but he also managed to engage her in the subject. Her confidence in it has substantially increased, and she is even considering undertaking the subject at a higher level (post GCSEs). I highly recommend him, and I have no doubt he will be able to have the same effect on other students. Jatin, Portishead

Fiona has only worked with my child for a short time but her teaching method was really valuable. She was very informative and helped my child make simple steps to improve his work. She provided positive and constructive feed back to work she looked at in her own time and enabled him to gain in his self confidence in writing as well as improve the quality of his writing. She has a very gentle and positive nature with the children and I would recommend her. Mrs Munro

We first approached Anna when we were looking for advice on how to support our 10-year-old son, who has ADHD and Anxiety Disorder. From the outset, we felt comfortable with Anna. Not only did she listen to us, but she understood and empathised with what we were hoping to achieve, and she respected and acknowledged our concerns. Her manner and suggested approach were ideally aligned with our situation and struck a perfect balance in terms of pace and engagement with our son. However, none of this would have mattered if our son would not accept her. From her first interaction with him, we realised we had nothing to worry about. He instinctively trusted her and responded open to her engagement, listening to what she asked of him and reacting positively to her praise and encouragement. Over the last four months, Anna has built up a rapport with our son built on a foundation of mutual respect and trust. She has a way of helping him to do what he needs to do in a way that avoids confrontation and conflict, reinforces positive learning, and builds up his confidence. This does not mean she does not say 'no' or lets him get away with messing around. It is just that she couches that control and discipline in a way that builds trust and engagement rather than one built on hierarchy and punishment. We cannot recommend Anna highly enough. She has a wealth of experience and expertise but is humble and questioning. More than that, it is crystal clear that her primary aim is to help develop our son and help him achieve his full potential. Put simply, if you are considering additional learning support for a SEND child, you should ask for a meeting with Anna. She is simply superb at what she does, and we are so grateful we found her. Location
Home Tuition: Involves a Study Skills tutor coming to your home in Bristol to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. Online Tuition: This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Home Tuition: Offers the highest level of individual attention, as the Study Skills tutor focuses solely on one student. Online Tuition: Still allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the Study Skills tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Home Tuition: This tends to be more expensive because it involves one-on-one teaching, and the Study Skills tutor is required to travel to your home, in Bristol. Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your Study Skills tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Home Tuition: Offers flexibility in terms of scheduling and curriculum, as your Study Skills tutor will only be working with your child. Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of Study Skills tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Home Tuition: Offers in-person interaction, which can be beneficial for students who learn better through face-to-face communication. Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between home, online, or small group Study Skills tuition in Bristol depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.
