About me

Qualified and experienced Early years and KS1 teacher with 28 years of experience. Teaches EYFS and KS1 curriculum. Qualified SEN teacher. Specialises in reading and literacy skills. Supports homeschooling. I have a child-centred approach to teaching and tutoring, I start with the student first, identifying their level of ability and start where they are at. I prepare a systematic and structured bespoke program of learning to support their development, assessing and revisiting the learning regularly to build, strengthen and consolidate their understanding. I make learning fun and engaging, practising key skills through games using the students' topics of interest to keep their attention and focus. I include brain breaks and active learning opportunities to increase levels of concentration and attention to tasks. I build on confidence and self-esteem through timely positive feedback throughout the lesson.
